Dui Attorney Knowledge Base
What are the benefits to getting a DUI attorney if your BAC is beyond a level where the courts will reduce? I have a friend that is contemplating whether to get an attorney or not for a recent DUI arrest. He lives in Las Vegas and it's his first but his concern is wasting money on an attorney if there is little chance of getting it reduced. Also a point that might be worth mentioning, when he was pulled over, he requested a seargant come to the scene and was denied the request. Is there any merit to this and does he have any recourse if he does pursue with an attorney?
Can someone recommend an excellent DUI Attorney in the Atlanta Metro area? I would prefer not to deal with a large firm where I am just a number. I would like based on experience or personal knowledge. This is a very complicated case and I am from out of state. It does not have to be a high priced attorney either, someone who is very intelligent, knows DUI law, knows how to win, and is well connected in Fulton County. Thank you very much.
Is a DUI Attorney worth the money? In my relative's case it is a $2500 dollar flat fee. Are there truly any advatages over a less expensive general practice lawyer or over a PUBLIC defender? ***** This is her second offense. **** She had done the breathalizer and blew .18 in the state of Louisiana. What are the common plea deals?
Is it worth getting an attorney if you get a DUI for the first ever? Is it worth getting an attorney if you get a DUI for the 1st time ever. I have a Class A commercial & a work as a driver for pepsi. If I do get one can they remove the DUI... I did a day in jail & I'm really sorry & thankful that I didn't kill or hurt anyone. I did learn my lesson. Especially because my license is my bread & butter..????
Is an attorney recommended for a first offense DUI in California? No crash, criminal record, anything. Got pulled over for incomplete stop at stop sign and got a DUI (chose blood test over breathalyzer). If I'm not contesting the DUI, is it still worth it to get an attorney? Or just go in myself and plead guilty? The attorney fees would come in real handy elsewhere, but if it helps... Thank you.
How do DUI attorneys sleep at night? I see advertisements for attorneys who specialize in getting people off DUI arrests. I'm pretty sure most police are not randomly giving out DUIs, there's usually a good reason to get these drunk drivers off the road...but if they end up getting off because of a technicality even though they did drink and drive, how is this good for us?
should i hire an attorney for a dui case? i got a dui last thursday in pacific grove, ca...1st dui..27 yrs old...blew .10 how bad of a punishment am i looking at $, school, probation, license...any info would be helpful especially if u have had one...thanks
Retired prosecutor being my attorney for DUI? I have asked some questions about this but this one is somewhat different. My friend gave me a number for a defense attorney that used to be the prosecutor for my town. He has successfully gotten my friends charges dropped numerous times. I am not looking to get charges dropped, but at least to the least punishment I can get. I got a DUI, am 20 years old, blew a .22, Careless driving as well. Would hiring this retired prosecutor (used to be the prosecutor for the same township that I got my DUI in) work to my advantage? I feel like he would have a conflict of interest since he used to be the one punishing people like me. Do you think he would defend and underage DUI?
DUI Expungement attorney? You can file the paperwork yourself for a nomial fee. I won my case when the state dropped the charges. Do I need to get an attorney to have my record expunged? Should be very cut and dried since the state dropped the charges on me.
Police Officer/ Lawyer/ District Attorney DUI Help Please? I got a DUI around a week ago. I have an Appt with the best lawyer in the town I got it in. Im getting a little anxious about the possible outcomes. I am guilty of it and the evidence is strong but it isnt foolproof. There was a wreck w/o any injuries. I havent yet spoke with my lawyer b/c he apparently is very good and booked for a few weeks. I have 7 years Military(4 active marines) ,3 w/ National Guard, and my unit was just alerted for a Deployment in the 12 months. My question is for current or former Lawyers or Police officers. Are there any type of plea bargains that I may possibly get? I am just trying to get a handle on the possible convictions and punishments. Just to clear things up for those who were generous enough to answer... It is my first, and last DUI. I blew a .11. I was completely cooperative with the officer and did well on the field sobriety tests. My record includes some speeding tickets and a retarded 2nd degree tresspassing (pjc) that i got 10 years ago. The DUI was in NC.
Is $1,200 flat fee defense attorney for underage DUI a lot? Is that kind of a high price? People are telling me that it is. Also what is an average price for an attorney for a situation where a 20 year old gets a dui, (blew .22). I know I will not get off completely either way, but whatever will help. My parents are not helping me pay for it, and I don't know exactly what I am doing, so I just don't want to get screwed. Another lawyer told me $2,500 so I thought $1200 was good. But my dad said that was a lot. What is average? This is a retired prosecutor of the township where I got the charges, so I assume he has some experience in this...
What does an attorney do for a DUI case? I recently made a terrible mistake drank a few beers and drove and I got pulled over. I blew and got about a .12, obviously above the legal limit. I hired an attorney and he told me to plead not guilty. I haven't really been able to get a hold of him and I don't know exactly what he will do for me. I don't know what the point is to plead not guilty if I am guilty. I really wonder if an attorney can do anything for me or if I will just have to pay for an attorney and suffer the consequences of my DUI (financially and otherwise). If anyone has any answers as for what an attorney's role is in a case like this I would greatly appreciate it. It my first moving violation of any kind and I've been driving for about 6 years.
I just was pulled over for DUI, do I have to get an attorney? I was pulled over for a DUI and not sure if I need an attorney. There are plenty of sites out there like www.duidefenseonline.com and ww.dui.com and a bunch others. There's some good info but I want to from someone that's already been through the process. How much did it cost, altogether?
Asking for an attorney while being interrogated? So I asked for an attorney while I was being interrogated and he said I could have one afterwards...I got charged for a DUI and when it came time to blow into the machine I told him I wanted to speak with an attorney and he said I couldn't have one until afterwards. Is it legal for the officer to do this? i had already been arrested, I was at the station.
How hard is it for a first tie DUI offender to get a restricted license? I am being charged with a DUI which I regret and have learned from. I hope to retain some rights to drive to and from work. I live in California. Is there a need to acquire attorney services to ensure I get this? I would like to just pay the fine, do my classes, serve the penalties and get on with life (and never drink and drive again.)

For a first time DUI in Orange County, California, do I need to get an attorney? I am going through a divorce and it's really miserable at home as we are still under the same roof. After work, I stopped at CVS and bought a big bottle of rum and 2 2-ltr bottles of diet coke. I was planning on going home, but decided I wasn't up to a fight. I pulled into a parking lot near my home and called a friend. While sitting and talking I made a couple of drinks. I knew that I would be walking home when the rain stopped. After sitting a couple of hours, cops appeared and proceeded to arrest me for DUI. I don't want any of my family members to know about this. I am awaiting a job transfer to Houston. I need to deal with this in a timely manner. What is the best way to handle this?
Court tomorrow for DUI in CA. No attorney/blew .17bac. any advice for my court hearing please? I am so glad that I did not hurt anybody or myself. So I dont need the run around thank you! What do they ask? Do you make a personal statement? Guilty or no contest? etc. I would appreciate anything. Thank you UPDATE! I had court this morning and everything went just fine. I talked to the DA and she said that it is pointless to get an attorney unless you blew between a .08-.10 or if its not your first offense. She said the judges have a standard punishment they give everyone for their 1st offense.
Looking for good criminal attorney in Springfield IL? My brother was recently arrested for obstructing a police officer. He gave a false name when he was being questioned while the driver of the car was having a DUI test. After giving the wrong name the police officer arrested him but let the driver go home since he was under the legal limit. Currently looking for a great criminal attorney in Springfield. Any Advice?
How does DUI appeal process work? I convicted of a DUI and am in deperate need of some help for the appeal process. I do not have a lot of money to hire an attorney. What should I do?
Hire an attorney or use a court appointed one for DUI/OVI charge? 20 years old male was stopped after leaving a house party. Police man claimed the guy made an improper turn and didn't use turn signal. The guy did in fact use turn signal and did make a proper turn. Police man insists he saw what he saw even though he was driving in front and well ahead of the guy. The police man pulled a double u-turn to get behind the guy and follows him for a good distance before pulling him over. Police asked the guy to step outside because he smelt alcohol and saw red eyes. Police man asked the guy if he had been drinking. The guy said no. Police asked guy to do a few field sobriety tests. It looked like the guy did very well in the tests and did not appear drunk but the police insists that he was drunk and had fail the tests. The police man asked guy to take breathalyzer and the guy refused. Upon refusing the police puts handcluffs on guy and took him to the station to fill out paper works and charged him with DUI and then the police drove guy home. What will the outcome of this man's case be?
First time DUI and Scared!!! How much for a good Attorney usually???? Can an appointed be as just as good? I did not resist in any way, and followed through with all the tests the police gave me. I was told that as long as I followed through with their orders that I could possibly go home the same night, in which I did. Their was no Bail or Bond set, so therefore, is that still considered an arrest??? I Blew a .10, and then a .13 lastly. Being that this is my first offense of anything of this type...........Whats the best way in going about it. Can I fight it with an appointed attorney just as good, should I choose one, and If I do choose one, then what kind of money are we looking at????? Please Help!
Conflict of interest between a judge and attorney in a jury trial? I was recently dismissed as a prospective juror from a DUI case in California. Afterwards, I googled the judge, deputy DA, and defense attorney. It turns out that the judge and one of the lawyers graduated from the same law school in the same year (back in the 1970's). Given that a lot of prospective jurors were dismissed [I'm guessing here] for various conflicts of interest such as family members working in law enforcement or family members with past DUI convictions, how high do alumni connections rate as a conflict of interest in jury trials?
Dui HELP Please!! Should I get an Attorney? I blew a 2.2 and a 2.1. The officer says I refused a chemical test, which I sort of did by refusing to CHOOSE blood or urine, but I didn't understand why he needed a chemical test when he had 3 different breathalizer tests. Anyway, I know I deserved the dui, the only thing I have a problem with is the refusal part which could cause me to lose my license for a year. This is my first dui, any comments or suggestion are appreciated. Sincerely, I really am sorry I put people in harms way Just for the record I didn't "fight" the blood test that he chose to give me. And yes I know that what I did was wrong and I deserve whatever I am given. The question still remains, "Should I hire an Attorney?" Ofcourse your right I blew .21 and a .22, not a 2.1 and a 2.2.
